Habanera - Harp and Flute Duo

Habanera.JPG (68452 bytes)

The flute and harp are a unique combination. The flute with its soaring golden tones is complimented by the rich sonorities of the harp. Together they have a great visual appeal and lend an air of relaxed refinement to any reception.

Both instruments are very practical. Being portable they lend themselves ideally to venues without a piano. The flute tends to carry well at receptions above the general conversation without being intrusive.

Emma and Rachel both studied at the Royal academy of Music and formed Habanera duo five years ago. The duo have performed recitals throughout the United Kingdom and abroad. They have experience of providing music for a full range of corporate and private functions. They have played for services and reception throughout the country and abroad, in venues such as St James’ Place, Hampton Court, Mansion House, Blenheim Palace and on may cruise liners.

Rachel is a highly talented flautist working with many of the countries top orchestras, including the Philharmonia Orchestra, the BBC Concert Orchestra, the Halle Orchestra, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. She is also a winner of many prizes for her solo playing, including the Lawrence Beauregard Flute Competition in Canada and the J.J. Brough prize at the Royal Academy.

Emma is a very versatile musician. She is a busy solo and orchestral harpist, working with orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, English National Opera and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Also broadcasting as a soloist for Classic FM and Radio 3. Emma is also a prize winner and is supported as a soloist by the countess of Munster Musical Trust. However Emma is equally at home in the west end, playing for the hit musical ‘Oliver’ or on ‘Noels House Party’ (BBC TV).
